Fire Risk Assessments

Fire risk assessments for housing and commercial buildings, carried out by competent assessors. We identify the risks, set out clear actions and give you a report you can act on.

The assessment

What A Fire Risk Assessment Covers

A fire risk assessment looks at how a fire could start, how it could spread and how people would get out. It identifies the hazards, the people at risk and the measures needed to keep them safe.

We assess the building fabric, escape routes, fire doors, alarms, signage and management arrangements. You get a prioritised list of actions, so you know exactly what needs doing and in what order. Every assessment is carried out by a competent, suitably qualified assessor.

Who and when

Who Needs One And How Often

If you are the responsible person for a building, you need a current fire risk assessment. How often it needs reviewing depends on the building and how it is used.

  • Landlords and housing providers with communal areas
  • Commercial building owners and managing agents
  • Any workplace with five or more employees
  • Buildings after a significant change or refurbishment
  • Reviewed regularly and after any incident
  • Sooner if the building or its use changes

FAQ

Common Questions

How often do I need an FRA?
There is no single fixed interval. You need a current assessment at all times and it should be reviewed regularly, after any significant change and after any fire incident.
Who carries out the assessment?
A competent, suitably qualified assessor. The report is written to stand up to scrutiny and support your compliance record.
What do I get at the end?
A clear, prioritised report setting out the hazards, the people at risk and the actions needed, in the order they should be tackled.
Do you cover the fire doors too?
Fire doors are checked as part of the assessment. For a full FD30 or FD60 inspection across your stock, we cover that as a separate service.
How fast is the report?
Turnaround depends on the size of the building. We agree it up front so you know when to expect the report.
